Financial advice firms typically charge an annual percentage of your investment or pension funds to manage and review your portfolio. This fee is supposed to cover regular assessments and adjustments to ensure your investments align with your financial goals. However, the FCA has found that many firms have failed to deliver these promised services, leaving clients out of pocket and under-informed.

Ongoing advice fees: the extent of the issue

The FCA’s investigation uncovered ongoing advice issues in 231 firms, indicating a systemic problem that spans the industry. The largest advice firms, including St. James's Place (SJP) and Quilter, have been prominently featured in the press for their roles in this controversy. SJP has even set aside £426 million for potential refunds to clients who were charged for advice they did not receive.

Could this be you? Let’s find out!

Paying a 1% ongoing advice fee on a £250,000 pension fund could cost you £2,500 per year. If you haven’t received the advice over a 5-year period, you could be owed £12,500!
